Scope of Responsibilities

The Mixology Instructor shall impart teaching methodology and practicum to students wishing to become employed in bartending and mixology or strengthened in their bartending and mixology training. The Mixology Instructor will be responsible for engaging students academically, liaising with the academy in monitoring student progress, and providing students with support. The Mixology Instructor will work collaboratively within the academy’s team and reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer.

Responsibilities:

• To train and mentor students and aspiring bartenders
• To educate students on the right way of mixing and pouring drinks, proper bar decorum, building customer relations, and the basics of managing the bar
• Provide hands-on instruction, allowing veterans to practice and refine their mixology skills behind the bar.
• Emphasize the importance of responsible alcohol service and adherence to safety protocols in all aspects of mixology.
• Serve as a mentor and advocate for veterans, offering support and guidance beyond mixology instruction as needed.

(f) The ability to utilize current technologies such as word processing, email, and the Internet

Qualifications:

• Experienced Bartender (2 yrs. minimum)
• Experience in mentoring, teaching, or bar management (2 yrs. minimum)
• Must have a valid California RBS alcohol server certification (BPC § 25682)
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation practices in the hospitality industry.
• Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe) preferred.
